From FACT Family
Zap-A-Snack Sale - Fall 2006

 Dear Parents,

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our school is sponsoring a fund raiser to raise money for student activities and on going programs. To help us raise these needed funds, we are taking orders from the Zap-A-Snack Delicious Menu brochure.  We selected these products because we thought members of our community would like to order products for themselves as well as share with friends and family.

If each child is able to sell 5 items we will raise the funds needed to support most of the important programs Fact Family sponsors throughout the school year.

Here are some examples of activities and programs Fact Family sponsor with the proceeds from fundraisers:

-Winter and Spring Sing Concerts: $1,200.00

-Field trips for each grade level: $1,500.00

-School yearbooks: $900.00

-School wide field trip to Greenfield Village: $3,100.00

-Clothes Closet supplies: $125.00

-Ice Cream Social:  $100.00

-Sponsorship Total:  $6,925.00

PARENTS CAN HELP!  Many parents take the brochure to work and request orders from their friends and associates.

Families are asked to take orders and collect the money until Friday October 20th. The ORDER cards and money must be turned in on that day.

PLEASE! TURN IN YOUR ODERS WITH YOUR MONEY ON October 20, 2006. WE WILL ACCEPT CASH, CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS, PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS OUT TO Fact Family.

Deliveries will be approximately 3 weeks from October 20th. We will notify all parents of the date of delivery once it’s confirm.

PRIZES:  Our goal is to have each family sell at least 12 items.  For every 12 items a family sells they will receive their choice of any item FREE from the brochure.  Make sure you fill in the PRIZE boxes on your order card for your free items from the Menu brochure. We are also enclosing a brochure of prizes for the children to select gift items based on the number of items they sell. Fun things for everyone!

**Please be on the look-out for our up-coming Gift Card purchase.  Parents will be able to buy gift cards at face value to redeem from local/national merchants.

Gratefully,
FACT Family

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH – UNITY

In October, we focus on the virtue of forgiveness. Teachers do special activities focusing on this virtue, and we recognize students who are demonstrating this virtue in a special way. You can help promote this activity by discussing examples of forgiveness at home.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent/teacher conferences were held Thursday September 28, and Friday, September 29.  If you did not schedule a conference date with your child teacher, please do so ASAP.  It is very important that every parent connects with their child’s respective teacher.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

Thank you for your patience as you drop off and pick up your children.  The line moves smoothly if drivers stay in their cars and pull as far forward as possible.  If you need to speak with a teacher or come into the building, please park in the parking lot on Park St.  What a wonderful support network our children have when dedicated parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends see to it that they get to and from school every day! Also, please do not block the driveway in front of Superior TV Service while in line for pick-up.

UPDATE INFORMATION

If your phone number or address changes, please let the office know so that we have accurate information for your child and can contact you in case of an emergency.

MEAP TEST TIME

The state-mandated MEAP tests for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be given between Monday, October 9th and end Friday, October 27th.  This is the second year that these tests are being administered in the fall.  You can help your children by encouraging them to do their best, assuring that they get plenty of sleep the night before, and seeing that they eat a good breakfast.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Elections will be held Tuesday November 7th in conjunction with local, State and national elections.

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS

Should it be necessary to cancel school due to weather or power outages, it will be announced on the following stations:

            WJR RADIO (760 AM)

            FOX TV (CHANNEL 2)

If we have to cancel school after the students arrive, we will attempt to contact parents by phone as well as announcing it over the radio and TV. So, please keep your child’s emergency information card up-to-date with proper phone numbers.  After-school classes will only operate when students are in school.  On days when there is no school because of Staff Training or weather, there will be no after-school classes.

VOLUNTEERS

A big Thank You goes to those parents and grandparents who helped on Picture Day and Pizza Day.  With your assistance, everything ran smoothly.  We know your time is valuable and appreciate that you spent your day here at New Beginnings Academy.

SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKES

Your children looked wonderful for school picture day.  Picture retake day has been scheduled for November 10, to coincide with Casual Day for that month.  You will receive more information prior to that date.  Remember that in order to have your child’s picture retaken, the original packets must be returned uncut.

ATTENDANCE AWARDS

Awards will be given each month to students who have perfect attendance. To earn such an award, the student must:

  • Not miss any school for any reason that month (not even a half day).

  • Not be tardy more than three (3) times for the entire trimester. If a student is tardy more than three times in one trimester, he/she cannot earn a perfect attendance award for any month in that trimester.

Students who have earned the perfect attendance award for September are:
